Backstory:

Faraway Governor is a band born out of the gritty side streets of Chicago, Illinois. The band members, childhood friends, and music enthusiasts, John Harper (vocals and guitar), Sam Robbins (bass), Russel Freeman (drums), and Emily Davidson (keyboards), found a common love for music and storytelling during their high school years. Inspired by their diverse cultural backgrounds and the city’s vibrant music scene, they formed Faraway Governor. Their name is a cheeky nod to their shared dream of transcending their humble beginnings to reach places far beyond, just like a governor with far-reaching influence.

They started performing in small gigs around the city, gradually gaining recognition for their unique sound and compelling lyrics. Their big break came when a well-known music producer happened to attend one of their concerts and was immediately taken by their raw talent and energy. This led to a record deal and the release of their debut album, setting them on their journey to stardom.

Their music is an eclectic mix of Indie Rock and Folk, drawing influences from various other genres like Blues and Country. This unique sound is what sets them apart in the music industry.
