Backstory:
Born and bred in the underbelly of Portland, Oregon, Hateful Article is a rebellious force that surfaced in the mid-2000s. The band was formed by lead singer and bassist, Lincoln Rhodes and drummer, Nathaniel “Nate” Turner, who were childhood friends, nourishing their music dreams in their parents’ garages. The duo was later joined by guitarist, Selena Kwan, who brought a new edge to their sound. Their bond was solidified over shared love for punk rock and distaste for the mold the music industry tried to impose. They made it their mission to challenge the status quo, embodying their defiance in their band name – Hateful Article.
Hateful Article’s rise was no overnight success. They played in local dives, embracing the grungy scene and building a cult following. Their music, raw and impassioned, resonated with the youth, becoming an anthem of rebellion. Their breakthrough moment arrived with their debut album, “Punk’s Not Dead… Yet”, which caught the attention of mainstream punk rock fans and critics alike.

“Riot’s Symphony”
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Em G D A
Hear the chaos, feel the rush,
Em G D A
Tire streaks and crimson blush.
Em G D A
The city is our canvas, night our brush,
Em G D A
We’re painting with a touch so lush.
[Chorus]
C G D Em
In our Riot’s Symphony,
C G D A
Echoing through anarchy.
C G D Em
We are the voice, the broken plea,
C G D A
In our Riot’s Symphony.
[Verse 2]
Em G D A
Sirens wail, but we don’t run,
Em G D A
Underneath the setting sun.
Em G D A
Against the tide, we march as one,
Em G D A
With our defiance, this fight is won.
[Chorus]
C G D Em
In our Riot’s Symphony,
C G D A
Echoing through anarchy.
C G D Em
We are the voice, the broken plea,
C G D A
In our Riot’s Symphony.

“I’ve been a fan of Hateful Article since their early days playing at the Black Cat Pub in Portland. Their music truly speaks to me on a level no other band has. It’s raw, gritty, and filled with so much emotion. You can feel every ounce of passion they pour into each lyric. It’s not about fame or fortune for them, it’s about the music, the message, and the fans. Hateful Article isn’t just a band, it’s a community, and I’m proud to be a part of it!”
