Growling Woman

Backstory:

Formed in the bohemian heart of San Francisco in 2015, ‘Growling Woman’ was the brainchild of lead vocalist and bassist Roxanne ‘Roxy’ Mitchell and drummer Eve ‘Evo’ Patterson. Both women were tired of the lack of female representation in their local punk scene and decided to take matters into their own hands. They recruited relentless guitarist Ari ‘Ace’ Evans and the enigmatic keyboardist Lila ‘Lullaby’ Hartley. Together, they sought to challenge the status quo and give the industry a much-needed shakeup with their raw energy, powerful lyricism, and relentless punk rock ethos.

The band quickly gained a following in their hometown, playing in basement shows and local venues, before expanding their reach to larger cities up and down the West Coast. Their raw, explosive sound, coupled with their volatile live performances, soon caught the attention of the national media. ‘Growling Woman’ was no longer just a local band; they were the new face of punk rock.

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[Dm] In the heart of the city, underneath the neon lights
[G] Roxy’s on the mic, Evo’s drumming up a fight
[A] Ace strums her guitar, Lula tickles the ivory
[Dm] Together they are ‘Growling Woman,’ a force of anarchy

(Chorus)
[C] We are the Growling Woman, hear us roar
[G] Fearless and relentless, always asking for more
[A] We are the Unleashed Fury, we won’t back down
[Dm] We’re here to shake up the world, crown ourselves the queen with the crown

(Verse 2)
[Dm] Through the sweat and the chaos, the screams and the pain
[G] They play their hearts out, in sunshine or rain
[A] They sing for the voiceless, the wild, and the free
[Dm] Their music is a riot, a punk rock symphony

(Chorus)
[C] We are the Growling Woman, loud and clear
[G] Breaking all the rules, embracing what we fear
[A] We are the Unleashed Fury, the world is our stage
[Dm] We’re here to write our own story, tear out of the cage

Fan’s Testimonial:

“My name is Hank and I gotta say, ever since I heard ‘Growling Woman’ at a small gig in Oakland, I was hooked. Their raw energy, their unabashed boldness, it all just resonated with me. I’ve always felt out of place, but their music, especially ‘Unleashed Fury,’ makes me feel seen and heard. They’re not just a band to me, they’re a movement of empowerment and rebellion. They’re my favorite because they’re not afraid to be themselves, something I strive to be every day.”
