Smug Enthusiasm

Backstory:

Smug Enthusiasm was born from a strong camaraderie and a shared fondness for old-school rock and roll in the small town of Summit, New Jersey. Colin “Coyote” Langston, a gifted guitarist and songwriter, and Mason “Mad Dog” Riley, a drummer known for his flamboyant and intricate rhythms, met during their high school talent show. The duo quickly discovered a shared affinity for creating music that was more than just a sum of its parts. When the school’s jazz prodigy, Layla “Lioness” Roberts, heard their music and asked if she could add her bass guitar and vocals to the mix, Smug Enthusiasm was born.

At first, the trio played at local pubs, parties, and charity events, earning a small but fervent following for their unique and vibrant sound. Word-of-mouth spread their reputation far and wide until it reached the ears of music producer Ivan “Iggy” Iverson. Iggy saw the raw talent and potential in the band and quickly signed them. The band’s energy, combined with their unassumingly confident demeanor and dynamic performances, helped coin their name, Smug Enthusiasm – a fitting description of their onstage presence.

Title:

“Beneath the Midnight Sun”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Am – C – G – D
Am
Beneath the midnight sun, we found our freedom,
C
In the rhythm beating in our hearts,
G
In the chaos of the city, we found our anthem,
D
In the silence, we found our parts.

(Chorus)
F – C – G
F
Riding on the tunes of the forgotten dreams,
C
We’re dancing in the shadows, breaking at the seams,
G
Beneath the midnight sun, we’re growing,
F – C – G
Lost in our world, in the music, we’re flowing.

(Verse 2)
Am – C – G – D
Am
Graffiti walls tell stories of our rebellion,
C
In the notes echoing from our guitars,
G
In the echoes of the alleyways, we found our haven,
D
In the darkness, we found our stars.

Repeat Chorus

Fan Testimonial:

“My name’s Lily, and I’ve been a Smug Enthusiasm fan since day one – they first played at my brother’s 21st birthday party. The energy and raw emotion they bring to their music, it’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Their song ‘Beneath the Midnight Sun’ helped me through a really tough time. It felt like they were speaking directly to me, telling me it’s okay to feel lost and find your own path. Smug Enthusiasm isn’t just my favorite band because their music is phenomenal – they’re my favorite because their music means something.”
