Backstory:
Soggy Cup originated in the heart of Detroit, Michigan, in 2013. The band was formed by lifelong friends and fervent musicians, Tom “the Tome” Johnson, Billy “Buzzsaw” Benson, Jerry “the Jester” Jenkins, and Sally “Silverstring” Smithson. They initially started creating music in Benson’s garage, bonding over their shared love for alternative music and their disdain for dry cups. The band’s name was inspired by an amusing incident that the group experienced on one rainy afternoon when a paper cup they left outside got drenched, and they discovered it held a different, richer sound when tapped. They felt the name represented their style – seemingly ordinary, but with an unexpected twist.

The band quickly gained traction on the local scene for their unique sound, energetic performances, and poetic lyrics. They released their first EP in 2016, which caught the attention of a major record label. Since then, they have released three full-length albums and have been selling out shows across the country.
