Backstory:

Formed in the underground music scene of Portland, Oregon, in 2015, Dutiful Sponge is a quartet of talented musicians who met during their time at the famed Portland School of Music. Frontman and lead vocalist, Dylan “Diz” Zander, with his haunting lyrics, is joined by gifted guitarist, Ethan “E” Michaels, bass extraordinaire, Riley “Rip” Phillips, and master percussionist, Aaron “Aces” Stevens. The four were drawn together by a shared love of music and a desire to challenge conventional genres and create something entirely unique. “Dutiful Sponge” was a quirky name suggested by Diz Zander, who jokingly compared their absorption of various music styles to a sponge.
