Backstory:
Generous Rifle was formed in the small town of Beaufort, South Carolina, in 2007. The band members, high-school pals, shared a love for powerful lyrics and a passion for creating music that makes listeners stop and think. Their name, Generous Rifle, comes from a local legend about a Civil War soldier who used his rifle to save his enemy’s life. This tale of unexpected kindness in the midst of violence resonated with the band, and they chose it as their moniker to remind themselves and their fans about the power of generosity and the importance of unexpected acts of kindness.
Their initial years were spent playing in local bars and small music festivals, honing their skills and fine-tuning their sound. Word began to spread about the band with the strange name and the powerful lyrics. They released their debut album independently in 2011, and the positive response led to a record deal with a major label.

Title: “Beneath the Southern Sky”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
C G Am F
Beneath the southern sky, where the ocean meets the shore,
I found my peace, lost in the war.
The echoes of the battle cry, still ringing in the air,
But in your eyes, only love is there.
(Chorus)
Dm G C Am
We’ll rise above, with our generous rifle,
In a world full of hate, let our hearts be the trifle.
G F C G
Beneath the southern sky, we’ll make our stand,
With love as our weapon, and peace as our brand.
(Verse 2)
C G Am F
Your whispers in the night, they calm my raging storm,
In the midst of chaos, in your arms, I’m reborn.
The cannons may be roaring, the bullets may fly,
But beneath the southern sky, love will never die.
(Chorus)
Dm G C Am
We’ll rise above, with our generous rifle,
In a world full of hate, let our hearts be the trifle.
G F C G
Beneath the southern sky, we’ll make our stand,
With love as our weapon, and peace as our brand.
