Exemplary Petrol

Backstory:
Born in the industrial heart of Chicago, Exemplary Petrol is the brainchild of high school friends, Jason ‘JT’ Thomas, a mechanic, and Andy ‘The Axeman’ Mitchell, a gas station attendant. Bonding over a shared love of blues and classic rock, the duo began jamming in the garage after long shifts, using the sounds of the city and the hum of machinery as their muse. As their sound matured, they brought on board bassist Steve ‘Stainless’ Steele, a metalworker, and drummer ‘Clutch’ Clarkson, a tow truck driver. The four-piece quickly became known for their gritty, gas-guzzling tunes and high-octane performances, earning them the name Exemplary Petrol, a nod to their blue-collar roots and love for all things mechanical.

Title:
“Grease and Grit”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[C] Down in the heart of the city, [G] under the neon lights,
[F] Working day and night, [C] to keep the engines right.
[C] Fingers stained with grease and grit, [G] wrench in my hand,
[F] I’m a simple man, [C] doing what I can.

(Chorus)
[G] Grease and Grit, [C] fuel in my veins,
[F] Fast cars and open lanes, [G] that’s my only game.
[F] With a wrench and a dream, [G] I keep it tight,
[C] Exemplary Petrol, [G] we rock the night.

(Verse 2)
[C] Through the smoke and the steel, [G] we find our melody,
[F] Grinding gears and a sweet symphony, [C] that’s our remedy.
[C] From dusk till dawn, [G] we play our song,
[F] With the roar of the engines, [C] we push along.

(Chorus)
[G] Grease and Grit, [C] fuel in my veins,
[F] Fast cars and open lanes, [G] that’s my only game.
[F] With a wrench and a dream, [G] I keep it tight,
[C] Exemplary Petrol, [G] we light the night.

Testimonial:
“There ain’t another band out there like Exemplary Petrol. Their music gets you right in the gut, like a supercharged V8 on a clear stretch of open road. I’ve been a mechanic my whole life, and no one else puts the grease and grit of the garage into their tunes like these guys. From ‘Grease and Grit’ to the late-night ballads, they capture the life we live and love. I’ve got their posters on my garage walls, and their music keeps me rockin’ through the workday. Exemplary Petrol, they’re the real deal – real people making real music.”
