Backstory:
Vapid Round emerged from the bustling underground music scene of Seattle, Washington in the late 90s. The four-piece band, consisting of lead singer Dean Pollock, guitarist Terry Samuels, drummer Jay Mendoza, and bassist Billy Reynolds, all attended the same high school and bonded over their shared love of music. The friends started jamming in Pollock’s garage, experimenting with their sound throughout their high school years. After graduation, they decided to take their passion for music a step further and formed Vapid Round.
Their name was inspired by their observation of the music industry, which they felt was becoming stagnant and repetitive. Vapid Round wanted to disrupt the status quo, bringing a refreshing and innovative sound to the scene. They quickly gained a cult following in the local music scene, thanks to their electrifying performances and unique sonic style, eventually catching the attention of a Los Angeles-based record label who signed them in 2001.
