Backstory:
Small Police isn’t your average band with a regular story. Founded in 2006 by childhood friends, the band was originally conceived as nothing more than a hobby to escape the monotony of small-town life. Comprising of lead vocalist and guitarist, Gary Lawson, bassist, Michael ‘Mikey’ Grant, and drummer, Steve Hargrove, they began their journey in the basement of Gary’s parents’ house. Their sound was initially heavily influenced by the classic rock their parents listened to, but, over time, they started experimenting and creating a unique blend that set them apart from their contemporaries.
One evening, during one of their usual jam sessions, Gary’s younger brother accidentally left a recording device on. The resulting track was unrefined and raw but had an undeniable charm. When shared on an online music platform, it unexpectedly blew up, gaining the attention of influential musicians and producers. As a result, Small Police managed to land a record deal and has since become one of the most beloved indie bands on the scene.
