Past Smoke

Backstory:
Past Smoke first ignited the Seattle music scene in 2007. The band consists of childhood friends, vocalist/guitarist Ethan Hall, bassist Liam Turner, and drummer Max Preston. The trio found their unique sound while jamming in a damp basement during their high school years. Driven by a shared passion for music and storytelling, they decided to form Past Smoke, a band that mirrors their collective consciousness and experiences.

Their journey to stardom wasn’t a straightforward one. They worked odd jobs, played at local bars, and even performed at house parties to save enough money to record their first album. The band’s name, Past Smoke, is a poignant reminder of their tumultuous journey filled with struggle, hard work, and resilience, very much like smoke dissipating into the air eventually to reach the sky, which symbolizes their struggles, past failures, and subsequent rise.

Genre:
Past Smoke is best known for their gritty, organic sound that blends Alternative Rock with a touch of Blues and Grunge.

Song Title:
“Embers of Yesterday”

Full Song Lyrics:

(VERSE 1)
Am C G
Under the veil of the twilight’s gleam,
Am C G
I chase the shadows of our broken dream.
Em D C
The ashes whisper tales of our yesterday,
Am C G
Fading embers, their glow in decay.

(CHORUS)
D Em C G
Oh, Embers of Yesterday, burning so bright,
D Em Am C
Smoke and mirrors, obscuring the light.
D Em C G
In the remnants of your fire, we’ve come unmade,
D Em Am C
Embers of Yesterday, love’s masquerade.

(VERSE 2)
Am C G
As the night descends, secrets unwind,
Am C G
In the dance of the flames, our truths intertwined.
Em D C
Our love, once a blaze, now a smoky haze,
Am C G
In the Embers of Yesterday, we find our maze.

(REPEAT CHORUS)

Bands Favorite Fan:
Our favorite fan is Sophie Miller. Sophie has been with us from our first show in a dingy bar to our sold-out stadium concerts. She’s followed us through our journey, sharing our story and our music with anyone who would listen. She was the first to buy our merch, promote our music, and showed up to every local gig. In her words:

“Past Smoke is more than just a band to me, it’s like a family. Their music speaks to my soul, and their journey inspires me. Every chord, every word, feels like it’s been plucked from my own life. Their songs ‘Embers of Yesterday’ resonates with me on a deep, personal level. Their music has been a constant companion in my life, and I can’t imagine a world without Past Smoke.”
