Backstory:
Formed in the heart of Melbourne, Australia, Growling Hose is a quartet that met by happenstance. The founding members, lead vocalist/guitarist Mike ‘Rozzy’ Rosenthal and drummer Percy ‘Thumper’ Thompson were both working at a local garden center, often finding themselves jamming during breaks. One day, their improvised session caught the ear of bassist, Laura ‘Lush’ Hunt, who was shopping for a new hose and couldn’t help but join in. Later, they stumbled upon keyboardist, Peter ‘Pipes’ Piper playing in a bar, and his bluesy tones were the perfect addition to the band. Their camaraderie grew stronger with each jam, and soon, Growling Hose was born – named after the garden center where it all began.

Genre:
Growling Hose is best known for their eclectic blend of Psychedelic Rock and Blues. Their music is characterized by expansive, dreamlike guitar riffs, wandering basslines, and potent lyrics. They’re also known for their dynamic live performances, where they often incorporate extensive improvisation and wild light shows.

Bands favorite fan:
Our favorite fan has to be Martha ‘Marty’ Gibson. An elderly lady in her late 70s, Marty has been with us since our first gig at a local pub. Despite her age, she’s got the spirit of a rockstar, always standing right in front at our gigs, dancing and singing along to every song.
