Backstory:

Weekly Dog was born in the heart of Portland, Oregon, where four childhood friends bonded over their shared love for music and a raggedy neighborhood stray named Max. They adopted Max as their unofficial mascot, and thus, the band was christened. Weekly Dog began their journey in the dingy basements of their homes, staging impromptu performances for friends and family. Their unique sound soon drew attention beyond their immediate circles, leading them to perform at local venues and eventually record their first album.

Members include lead vocalist and guitarist Jonny Reed, bassist Sam ‘BoomBox’ Hartnell, drummer Tim ‘Lightning’ Lewis, and synth player Ellie ‘Keys’ Johnson. Despite their humble beginnings, the band has never lost sight of their roots. Weekly Dog continues to donate a portion of their album sales to local animal shelters, a tribute to the beloved dog who gave them their name.

Their most beloved fan is a woman named Lucy, a veterinarian from their hometown. She was amongst their first audience, attending their basement gigs and watching them grow into the accomplished outfit they are today. Lucy says, “Weekly Dog is more than just a band to me. Their music resonates with my love for animals, their passion is infectious, and every time I listen to “Canine Rhythm”, I am reminded of the beautiful bond we share with animals.
