Backstory:

Capital Bar is a unique ensemble hailing from the heart of New York City. Originally, it was a group of four friends who met during open mic nights at a small dive bar in Manhattan’s East Village. The band’s name was inspired by the capital bar on top of the “shift” key on a keyboard, paying homage to their love for wordplay and their shared background in journalism and literature. Initially, they just jammed for fun, their passion for music evident in the enriching vibe they brought to the bar. However, their charisma and talent didn’t go unnoticed for long. A talent scout, who happened to stop by the bar one night, saw potential in their music, and that’s how their journey began.

Their shared love for stories and melodies led to the creation of songs that left listeners moved and inspired. With Maxine on vocals and rhythm guitar, Josh on lead guitar, Emily on drums, and Sam on bass, their synergy was undeniable. Their music quickly became a hit within the local community and eventually spread far and wide, making Capital Bar a household name in the indie music scene.

Their favorite fan is called Lisa Mitchell, a literature teacher from Brooklyn. Lisa discovered Capital Bar during one of their early performances in the East Village.
