Backstory:
Unlawful Existence was established in the grimy basements and dive bars of Seattle back in 2010. The band was born out of the raw, unfiltered passion of four friends – frontman Jack “Jax” Spade, lead guitarist Rex “Razor” Smith, bassist Derek “The Viking” Johannson, and drummer Billy “Thunder” Thornton – who were equally inspired by the angst of grunge and the rebellion of punk. The band was infamous for their raucous, chaotic live shows and their refusal to conform to the music industry’s standards.
While they initially struggled to get their foot on the doorstep of mainstream music, they caught the attention of an indie record label executive during one of their gigs. The executive was taken by their energy, their raw talent, and their absolute dedication to their music. He offered them a deal on the spot, and since then, Unlawful Existence has been unstoppable, touring across the country and releasing several successful albums.

Title:
“Bleeding Hearts & Broken Chains”
Full song lyrics:
(Verse 1 – Dm, Bb, F, C)
Can’t you see the scars on my soul, etched deep in my skin?
A fading echo of a story, where no one ever wins.
There’s a demon in the mirror, staring back at me,
I’m just a prisoner of my own mind, longing to be free.
(Chorus – Bb, F, C, Dm)
We are the bleeding hearts and broken chains,
Fighting through life, embracing our pains.
We are the night’s children, dancing in the rain,
Unlawful existence, defying the mundane.
(Verse 2 – Dm, Bb, F, C)
My dreams are painted on the canvas of the dark,
With the whispers of the damned, leaving their mark.
Look beyond the veiled faces, strip us to the bone,
You’ll see we’re all just misfits, lost and alone.
(Chorus – Bb, F, C, Dm)
We are the bleeding hearts and broken chains,
Threading our path, through life’s cruel games.
We are the prophets of the fallen, bearing no name,
Unlawful existence, in a world up in flames.
(Bridge – Bb, A, Dm, C)
In the silence of the night, we find our resonance,
Living on the edge, we claim our existence.
We are the dreamers, the rebels, the lost, the insane,
In our unlawful existence, we find our own domain.
Outro (Chorus – Bb, F, C, Dm)
We are the bleeding hearts and broken chains,
Standing tall, against the wind and rains.
We are the voices of anarchy, breaking from the strain,
Unlawful existence, we won’t be restrained.
The Bands Favorite Fan:
Our most ardent fan is Max “Mad Max” Taylor. He discovered our music during a difficult time in his life. He says, “Unlawful Existence is more than just a band. Their music speaks directly to my soul, it’s raw, real and resonates with me. It feels like they’ve channeled my emotions into their lyrics. They’re not just musicians, they’re poets of the punk grunge scene. Every concert is an experience, a journey. They’ve made me feel seen, they’ve made me feel valid, and they’ve made me believe in the power of music. Unlawful Existence is my favorite band because they’ve been with me through the highs and lows, and their music has always been my solace.”
