Backstory:
Respectful Category is a band that was formed in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, in 2010. Comprised of three childhood friends – Adam “AJ” Johnson on vocals and guitar, Benny “Bass Man” Henderson on bass, and Lucy “Luci” Davis on drums – the band started off by jamming in AJ’s garage, playing cover songs from their favorite artists. The trio, bored with the contemporary music scene and inspired by the diversity and creativity of their hometown, decided to form a band that would break the mold of traditional genres, opening a respectful category of their own. They started writing original songs, infusing their eclectic taste into their music, and started performing at local bars. Their performances quickly earned them a loyal following due to their unique sound and energetic stage presence.
