Backstory:
Formed in the obscure backstreets of Austin, Texas in 2007, Cultivated Joke came into existence when four college dropouts with a shared passion for music decided to take their basement jam sessions to the next level. Comprising of vocalist and guitarist Julian “Jules” O’Connor, bassist Peter “Pete” Thompson, drummer Mike “Mikey” Rogers, and keyboardist Alex “Lex” Bennett, the band started performing in local clubs, garnering a small but dedicated following with their unique sound and raw lyrics. Their penchant for making light of life’s struggles through their music caught the attention of indie record label ‘Saturn Records’, sealing their breakthrough in the music industry.
