Backstory:
Separate Criticism originated from the bustling city of Philadelphia, where four college friends decided they wanted to make more than just noise. As roommates at Temple University, their shared dorm room became a makeshift studio, where late-night study sessions gradually turned into jam sessions. Brandon Moore, the lead vocalist and guitarist, had been writing songs since high school. Joanne Adams, the drummer, was a music major and a natural rhythm machine. Mike Cho, who played the bass, was an art student with an ear for melody, while Daniel Thompson, the keyboard player, was a computer science major who loved dabbling with synthesizers. The four agreed on a name that reflected their belief in constructive feedback and constant refinement – Separate Criticism.
