Backstory:
Growing Invention was formed in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, in the summer of 2012. The band was first conceived when the lead singer and guitarist, Daniel ‘Danny’ Smith, met bassist, Jake ‘The Snake’ Mitchell, at a local dive bar during an open-mic night. The chemistry was immediate and they soon joined forces with drummer, Zoe ‘Z’ Jones, and keyboardist, Lily ‘Lilypad’ Martinez. Initially, they played in small gigs around town, gradually gaining a following for their unique sound and energetic performances.
The band’s breakout moment came in 2015 when their indie rock anthem ‘Fantastic Reprieve’ swept the airwaves. They were signed by a major record label, leading to national tours and gigs at prominent music festivals. In spite of their growing fame, Growing Invention remains grounded, always remembering their roots and their loyal fan base back in Austin.
