Backstory:
Profuse Government was formed in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, during the politically tumultuous times of the early 2010s. The band’s founders, high school friends Max ‘Riff’ Richardson (lead vocals/guitar) and Billy ‘Bass’ Baker (bass guitar/backing vocals), were both heavily influenced by punk rock’s raw energy and the biting social commentary of early hip hop. They sought to create music that embodied their shared frustration with the socio-political climate, while also expressing their hope for better days. Adding drummer Sarah ‘Sticks’ Stevens and keyboardist Tommy ‘Tune’ Turner to the mix, Profuse Government quickly became a fixture in the local underground music scene.
The band’s debut album, “Bureaucratic Madness,” caught the attention of independent labels and critics alike, catapulted by the band’s ferocious live performances. Simultaneously thought-provoking and catchy, Profuse Government’s music resonates deeply with audience members from different walks of life. Their mission is simple and profound — to use music as a vehicle to challenge, inspire, and unite.

Title:
“Manifesto of The Misled”
Full Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1: E – B – C#m – A]
(E) They call us the generation of the dispossessed,
(B) We’re tired of the lies, the deceit, the unrest.
(C#m) We’ve seen through the greed, the power, the games,
(A) We won’t be silenced, we won’t be tamed.
[Chorus: A – E – B]
(A) Manifesto of The Misled,
(E) We won’t rest until we’ve said,
(B) Everything that’s in our hearts,
(A) Broken system, time to start.
[Verse 2: E – B – C#m – A]
(E) Placards high, we march through the city streets,
(B) Echoing the rhythm of a thousand beating heartbeats.
(C#m) Our words are weapons, our voices are law,
(A) We won’t be silenced, not anymore.
[Chorus: A – E – B]
(A) Manifesto of The Misled,
(E) We won’t rest until we’ve bled,
(B) Every ounce of truth we hold,
(A) This is our story, it has to be told.
[Bridge: C#m – B – A]
(C#m) This is more than a song, it’s a battle cry,
(B) Stand up, fight back, it’s do or die.
(A) We’re the Profuse Government, hear our plea,
(B) For a world that’s free, as it should be.
[Chorus: A – E – B]
(A) Manifesto of The Misled,
(E) We won’t rest till we’re ahead,
(B) Breaking chains with every chord,
(A) This is our fight, we’re moving forward.

“I’ve been a fan of Profuse Government since their early days playing basement shows in Brooklyn. Their music perfectly encapsulates the frustration and disillusionment that so many of us feel. But it’s not just about venting anger — there’s a message of hope, unity, and resistance in their lyrics that’s incredibly inspiring. Their song “Manifesto of The Misled” is a perfect example of this. It’s a rallying cry for anyone who’s ever felt ignored or marginalized. Profuse Government isn’t just a band to me, they’re a beacon of hope in a world that sometimes feels too dark.”
