Backstory:
Winged Appliance was formed in the quirky, arty cityscape of Portland, Oregon, in 2012. The band was initially a duo, comprising of lead singer and songwriter, Mick “Maverick” Davis, an eccentric appliance repairman with a penchant for surrealist poetry, and drummer, Sarah “Slay” Jones, a former classical pianist with an untapped love for rock. Their unorthodox pairing began in a garage, surrounded by a collection of broken appliances, which inspired their unique name. Their innovative sound caught the attention of a local radio producer, leading to their breakout moment on KBOO Community Radio. Soon after, they added bassist Tony “Thunder” Russo and guitarist Alice “Astro” Lee to their lineup, completing the band’s unique sound palette.
Genre:
Winged Appliance’s music is an eclectic mix of Progressive Rock with layers of Psychedelic Pop and a smattering of Spoken Word passages, creating a soundscape that is as unpredictable as it is intriguing.
Song Title:
“Galaxy in the Toaster”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1, Cmaj – Gmaj – Amaj – Fmaj)
In the kitchen, under morning light, I found my fight,
In a stainless relic caged, a starry night,
Bread crumbs gathered, forming solar delights,
Found my universe within the toaster’s sight.
(Chorus, Gmaj – Emaj – Fmaj – Cmaj)
Galaxy in the toaster, you’re my cosmic coaster,
Riding through the ether, on a flame broiled roaster.
Breadcrumbs to the cosmos, in a breakfast toaster,
Reality is the boast, of the winged appliance hoster.
(Verse 2, Cmaj – Gmaj – Amaj – Fmaj)
Pop-tarts orbiting, around the electric sun,
In this domestic space race, we’ve only just begun.
Crumbly constellations in the morning fun,
A universe unfolding, in the kitchen run.
