Smoggy Archbishop

Backstory:
Smoggy Archbishop first came to life in the underbelly of Manchester’s thriving indie scene back in 2004. The brainchild of two childhood friends, Pete ‘Smoggy’ Thompson, and Benny ‘The Bishop’ Bishop, their creation was a fusion of their diverse musical influences and talents. As they honed their sound, they found their third core member, Harvey ‘The Hammer’ Hammersmith, a classically trained violinist turned punk bass player. With a common desire for authenticity, dabbling in poetic, noir-ish lyrics, unrestrained gusto, and stage theatrics, they quickly amassed a dedicated following who appreciated their unique sound.

Title:
“Cathedral Ashes”

Full song lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Em C G D
In the heart of the city, where the sky turns grey,
Em C G D
Beneath the smoky veil, where the sinners pray,
Em C G D
Stand the crumbling walls, of Cathedral Ashes,
Em C G D
Where Smoggy Archbishop, plays and thrashes.

(Chorus)
C G D Em
Cathedral Ashes, your truths we find,
C G D Em
In the echoes of the sinner’s requiem, we’re intertwined.

(Verse 2)
Em C G D
The echoes of the past, in the strum of the strings,
Em C G D
In the Bishop’s sermon, a melancholic hymn sings,
Em C G D
In the smoggy twilight, we dance and crash,
Em C G D
In the ruins of our love, amid Cathedral Ashes.

(Chorus)
C G D Em
Cathedral Ashes, your hymns we’ve bind,
C G D Em
In the twilight of the heart’s requiem, we’re intertwined.

Fan Testimonial:
The band’s favorite fan is a die-hard devotee named Sally ‘The Scribe’ Middleton. Sally has been following the band since their gritty garage days, documenting their journey and growth in her hand-stitched journals. Here is what she has to say about her favorite band:

“Smoggy Archbishop isn’t just a band; it’s a movement, a philosophy. Their music speaks to the darkness in all of us, a raw and unfiltered look at our own vulnerabilities. It’s like they’re able to take the indescribable emotions we all feel and set them to a soundtrack. ‘Cathedral Ashes’ particularly resonates with me; it’s a haunting melody that never fails to stir something deep within. They’re not just musicians, they’re poets, philosophers, and fearless explorers of the human conditions. I don’t just listen to Smoggy Archbishop; I feel them.”
