Backstory:

Exalted Substance was formed in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee in 1998. Jesse ‘Roots’ Reynolds, a blues guitarist, met drummer Riley ‘Rhythm’ Harris at a dive bar’s open mic night. Both had a love for classic rock and blues with a modern twist. Jesse’s soulful playing combined with Riley’s steady beats made for a captivating synergy, and they decided to join forces. A year later, they stumbled upon bassist Callie ‘Bass Queen’ Johnson and keyboardist Ethan ‘Keys’ Kennedy. The four musicians, drawn together by their shared passion for music, formed Exalted Substance, a band that would soon capture the hearts of many.

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[G] Wandering down the [C] deserted streets, [D] lost in the echoes of [G] yesterday
[G] Shadows of the past [C] whisper to me, [D] tales of glory that [G] faded away

[G] Shadows of yesterday, [C] haunt my soul [D] in the sweetest way

(Verse 2)
[G] Old familiar faces, [C] hidden in the crowd [D] Seem so distant now, [G] so far away
[G] Every moment spent with you, [C] is locked in my heart [D] never to fray

(Chorus)
[G] Shadows of yesterday, [C] sing to me [D] in the moon’s soft ray
[G] Echoing in the corners of my mind, [C] you’re a part of me [D] that’ll never sway

(Ending)
[G] To the shadows of yesterday, [C] I tip my hat and [D] bid adieu
[G] Until we meet again, [C] I’ll hold onto the [D] memories of [G] you

Favorite Fan Testimonial:

“My name’s Jimmy ‘Bluesman’ Thompson. I’ve been a die-hard fan of Exalted Substance since their first gig in the dingy club, where I worked as a bartender. Their music, it’s raw and real. It hits you in the guts, makes your soul stir. Jesse’s guitar work is sublime, matched perfectly by Riley’s drumming. Add to that the sublime bass lines by Callie and Ethan’s magical keys, it’s divine! They’ve brought back the real essence of rock and blues. Every song, every line, every beat resonates with you. And their song “Shadows of Yesterday,” let’s just say it’s the kind of song that can heal a broken heart while breaking it all over again. Their music isn’t just music, it’s an experience. Long live Exalted Substance!”
