Sniveling Donkey

Backstory:

Sniveling Donkey is a quartet that was formed in the small town of Kelso, Scotland in 2005. The band members, childhood friends Timmy O’Donnell, Mikey Fergusson, Billy MacDonald, and Seamus Murray, found their passion for music while experimenting with an old guitar found in Billy’s attic. They started off playing in local pubs and at county fairs, gaining a small but dedicated following for their unique sound and offbeat humor. Over the years, they have risen from their humble beginnings to tour across the United Kingdom and beyond, never forgetting their roots.

Their unique name, Sniveling Donkey, was inspired by a joke that had been thrown around in their tight-knit group since their school days. After a particularly frustrating session trying to write their first song, Timmy’s younger brother had compared their music to a “sniveling donkey.” Instead of taking offense, the band laughed it off and decided to adopt the name, embracing their quirkiness and love for fun.

Title:

“Whiskey and Dreams”

Full song lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[G] Down by the old river bend, [C] I find myself again,
[D] Tossing stones and sipping whiskey, [G] wishing on a friend.
[G] The moon is a lonely ghost, [C] the wind sings out its toast,
[D] To the dreams that we’ve been chasing, [G] the ones that matter most.

(Chorus)
[G] Here’s to whiskey and dreams, [C] to laughter and schemes,
[D] To the ones who’ve gone before us, [G] and the love that redeems.
[G] Here’s to you and to me, [C] to the way things should be,
[D] To our song that’s still unwritten, [G] and the sniveling donkey.

(Verse 2)
[G] Our hearts are like the open road, [C] bearing heavy load,
[D] Of memories and moments, [G] of stories yet untold.
[G] We’ll sing until the morning light, [C] under the starry night,
[D] With our whiskey filled with dreams, [G] everything feels right.

(Repeat Chorus)

Favorite Fan Testimonial:

“My name’s Fiona, and I’ve been a die-hard fan of Sniveling Donkey since they first started playing at The Horseshoe Pub. Their music, it’s just so real and raw, you know? It’s like they’re not just singing songs; they’re telling stories. Stories about life, love, friendship… everything that matters. And the way they weave humor and their own unique quirks into it all, it’s just brilliant. I appreciate their authenticity and their dedication to their roots. Sniveling Donkey is my favorite band because they’re not just musicians, they’re storytellers, and they’re my friends.”
