Disguised Snow

Backstory: Disguised Snow is a band that was formed in the sleepy town of Salem, Oregon, during a frosty winter in 2010. The band was the brainchild of childhood friends, lead vocalist Arthur Hastings and drummer Benjamin Gordon. They decided to form a band after a snowy hike, during which Arthur began singing a melody that Benjamin spontaneously joined with a rhythm on the trees. They wanted to reflect the feeling of joy and freedom they felt that day in their music. Initially, the band started with only the two of them, but quickly expanded to include bassist Charlie Owens and guitarist Daisy Robinson. ‘Disguised Snow’ was chosen as their name in honor of that transformative hike in the snow, which they felt reflected the beauty of nature and music.

They remind me that it’s okay to be a ‘violet in the snow’, standing tall despite adversity. Their songs are not just melodies for me, they have been my companion through hard times. And it’s not just their music, they as people are just amazing. I remember, once during a concert, Arthur noticed me crying. Post concert, he came up to me and gave me a hug. That’s who they are, they connect with their fans on a personal level and that’s why they will always be my favourite band.
