Backstory:
Tricky Hospital was formed in 2003 in the vibrant music scene of Seattle, Washington. The band was made up of four high school friends: lead vocalist and keyboardist Mike Tannen, guitarist James Morrison, bass guitarist Daniel Hudson, and drummer Rick Lowell. The friends had always shared a love for music and a slightly dark sense of humor, which is how they came up with their unique band name. It was in reference to their shared belief that life is kind of like a tricky hospital: you never quite know what’s coming next, and it can sometimes be a little messy, but it’s always an adventure.

Title:
‘Funky Pills’
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] She walks in like a storm, [C] no warning in her eyes,
[Em] Dressed in doctor’s white, [D] a devil in disguise.
[G] She hands me funky pills, [C] says they’ll kill the pain,
[Em] But they just make me [D] feel insane.
(Chorus)
[G] Tricky Hospital, [C] you’re a labyrinth of lies,
[Em] Healing or hurting, [D] who can decide?
[G] Tricky Hospital, [C] in your halls I roam,
[Em] Waiting for the day, [D] I can finally go home.
(Verse 2)
[G] I see the other patients, [C] lost in their despair,
[Em] We’re all just casualties, [D] in need of repair.
[G] Tricky Hospital, [C] your walls are closing in,
[Em] It’s a game of life, [D] that we’re all struggling to win.
(Chorus)
[G] Tricky Hospital, [C] you’re a maze of fear,
[Em] Filled with echoes, [D] only we can hear.
[G] Tricky Hospital, [C] in your grip we stay,
[Em] Hoping for the light, [D] to guide our way.
