Backstory:
First Fluid was born out of a shared passion for music and the arts in the bustling city of Detroit, Michigan. Childhood friends, Joshua “Jazzy” Atkins (lead vocalist) and Darren “Dynamite” Daniels (drummer) reunited in college after years apart and began creating music in their dorm room. Inviting fellow dorm mates, Rebecca “Riff” Ryan (guitarist) and Lawrence “Lo-Fi” Franklin (bass), they transformed their shared space into an impromptu studio, cultivating their sound from their diverse influences and music backgrounds.
Their journey as an underground band started in 2015, with performances in local clubs and college events. As they started garnering attention, their unique blend of music crossed the borders of Detroit and they began gaining a fan base around the country. Despite their rising fame, First Fluid always remembered their humble roots and committed to powerful music that speaks the language of emotions and experiences.

The band’s favorite fan is Ella Thompson. Ella has been following First Fluid since their early underground gigs. She’s attended almost every concert and has a collection of all their signed merchandise. Her dedication to the band took her on cross-country trips just to watch their performances. Ella shares, “I love First Fluid not just for their music but for their authenticity. Their lyrics speak to me at a personal level and I feel like they understand the struggles of our generation. Their concerts are like therapy sessions, where you can just let go and feel the music.”
