Backstory:
Cultured Toy came to life in the bustling heart of New York City in 2014. The four members; lead vocalist and guitarist, Danny “Danto” Carter, keyboardist Marianne “Mars” Rhodes, Bassist Jimmy “Jam” McArthur, and drummer Becky “Becks” Smith, were all music school drop-outs drawn together by their shared passion for creating something unique yet relatable. Despite their academic failings, they decided to channel their frustration and love for music into the formation of a band, hoping to break free from the constraints of traditional music education. They started in small local bars, gradually gaining a loyal fanbase through their distinctive sound and sincere lyrics.

Title:
“Shadow Puppetry”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Cmaj7 Em Dm7
Painted faces, under the city lights,
G Cmaj7
Spinning around in circles, in the still of the night.
Cmaj7 Em Dm7
We lost ourselves in the shadow puppetry,
G Cmaj7
In the heart of this concrete symphony.
(Chorus)
Fmaj7 Dm7
Oh, we’re the Cultured Toy,
G Cmaj7
Lost children, sharing our joy.
Fmaj7 Dm7
In this city of glass and noise,
G Cmaj7
We’ve found our voice.
(Verse 2)
Cmaj7 Em Dm7
Bright neon flickers, like a silent scream,
G Cmaj7
In this world of illusions, we’re chasing a dream.
Cmaj7 Em Dm7
We’re the Cultured Toy, in this urban maze,
G Cmaj7
Living our story, in the city’s haze.
(Chorus)
Fmaj7 Dm7
Oh, we’re the Cultured Toy,
G Cmaj7
Lost children, sharing our joy.
Fmaj7 Dm7
In this city of glass and noise,
G Cmaj7
We’ve found our voice.
(Outro)
Fmaj7 Dm7
And as the city sleeps, we continue to play,
G Cmaj7
The Cultured Toy, dancing the night away.

They make me feel understood and less alone. Their song ‘Shadow Puppetry’ in particular, helps me deal with my anxiety. It’s like they’ve put my feelings into music. I’m forever grateful to them for creating such a beautiful and comforting soundscape.”
