Backstory:
Roasted Airport is a band that quite literally took flight in the baggage area of an international airport. Friends since childhood, lead vocalist Dave Henderson and drummer Mark ‘Sully’ Sullivan both found themselves in dead-end jobs at the San Francisco International Airport. Dave, a security guard, and Sully, a baggage handler, had always shared a love for music but it wasn’t until they met guitarist Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Lee, an air traffic controller, and bassist Keith Thompson, an airline food service worker, that they decided to form a band.
Their break came when they found an abandoned soundproof room used for testing aircraft engines. They transformed it into a makeshift studio and began to create music in between their shifts. Word quickly spread throughout the airport and their unique sound soon attracted a loyal following among the airport staff and passengers. Roasted Airport was born, and the band hasn’t looked back since.

“Destinations Unknown”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[Em] I’m standing here on runway nine, [G] a suitcase full of dreams
[D] Underneath the jet plane lights, nothing’s [A] what it seems
[Em] I’m a stranger to myself, [G] lost in transit space
[D] This terminal’s my silent plea, [A] in this lonely place.
(Chorus)
[C] Take me to Destinations Unknown, [G] where the heart finds its home
[D] Sky full of stars, [Em] guide me tonight,
[C] Through this long haul flight, [G] into dawn’s first light
(Verse 2)
[Em] The boarding pass in my cold hand, [G] tracing maps of constellations
[D] Layovers and red-eye flights, [A] leading to salvation
[Em] Fuelled by coffee and endless nights, [G] a journey without a name
[D] Roaming through time zones, [A] in this waiting game.
(Chorus)
[C] Take me to Destinations Unknown, [G] where the heart finds its home
[D] Sky full of stars, [Em] guide me tonight,
[C] Through this long haul flight, [G] into dawn’s first light.

As a flight attendant, I spend more time in the air than on the ground. Roasted Airport’s music resonates with my nomadic lifestyle like no other. Their songs are a solace for the weary traveller and an anthem for those constantly yearning for unexplored territories. I’ve been lucky enough to hear them play live at the airport a few times, and it’s a feeling like no other. They’re my favorite band because they understand the exhilarating yet exhausting reality of constant travel, and their music is a balm for the soul. My life’s a perpetual ‘Destinations Unknown’ journey, and Roasted Airport is the perfect soundtrack.
