Backstory:
Ruddy Capacity emerged from the foggy streets of Liverpool, England in the early 2010s. The bandmates, childhood friends Finn McLaughlin (lead vocals/guitar), Keegan O’Reilly (drums), Rhys Gallagher (keyboard), and Fergus Byrne (bass), found solace in their shared love for music amidst the mundanity of their day jobs. The band’s name was chosen to reflect their ‘ruddy’ or raw, unpolished sound and their ‘capacity’ to grow and evolve. Over time, they cultivated their sound, infusing it with their experiences and the spirit of their hometown. Their cross-genre appeal has won them fans from all walks of life, making them a household name in the indie-music scene.
Genre:
Indie Rock with a touch of Folk and Britpop.
Title:
“Painted Skies”
Full Song Lyrics:
Verse 1: (G, Em, C, D)
G Em
Down the cobblestone streets, we wander,
C D
Underneath these painted skies.
G Em
In the echoes of laughter and thunder,
C D
In our hearts, the city lies.
Chorus: (C, G, D, Em)
C G
Oh, these painted skies,
D Em
Capture the light and our goodbyes,
C G
Underneath them, we’re just passers-by,
D Em
In the portrait of painted skies.
Verse 2: (G, Em, C, D)
G Em
The rain washes away our sorrows,
C D
Illuminating the dawn of new days.
G Em
Promising a brighter tomorrow,
C D
In the warmth of the sun’s blaze.
(Repeat Chorus)
Bridge: (Am, Em, C, D)
Am Em
Through the shadows, through the light,
C D
Together we continue our fight.
Am Em
With every dawn, with every night,
C D
Underneath these painted skies.
(Repeat Chorus and then fade out)
Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is a woman named Lucy, a bookstore owner from their hometown. Lucy was one of the first few people to recognize their talent when they were just another local band doing pub gigs. She’s been their staunch supporter ever since. She says, “Ruddy Capacity is more than just a band to me. Their music is like a trusty old friend, always there when you need it the most. They’ve captured the essence of our city, our lives in their songs, making them our voice. I can’t imagine my life without their music!”
