Backstory:
Overcooked Fashion is a band born from the ashes of New York City’s fashion scene. Founding members, lead vocalist Gus Roper and lead guitarist Lloyd Frederick, were once prominent designers in the industry. Their eccentric and avant-garde approach, while initially celebrated, eventually led to their downfall when they went too far and created a line of clothing made entirely from overcooked pasta. Deemed ridiculous, they were blacklisted from the scene and left unemployed. In their shared misery, they found a common interest in music and decided to channel their creative energy into a new venture and formed Overcooked Fashion.
Genre:
The band’s music is an eclectic mix of Alternative Rock and Art Pop, with a hint of Punk, reflecting the quirkiness of their fashion background. Their lyrics, filled with irony and satire, often highlight the superficiality and fickleness of the fashion industry.

“One Stitch at a Time”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] Once, we were the kings, [Am] Riding high on angel wings
[C] Playing god with needle and thread, [D] Now we’re only playing dead
[G] Overcooked our fashion dreams, [Am] Laughed away by fashion queens
[C] Now we’re threading a different line, [D] One sweet melody at a time
(Chorus)
[G] One stitch at a time, we sew, [Am] In the rhythm, as we go
[C] Nailing every rhyme, [D] We’re making music that’s so fine
[G] Scraps of fabric, scraps of words, [Am] Singing like the sweetest birds
[C] One stitch, one note, one line, [D] Creating a masterpiece, so divine
(Verse 2)
[G] Banished from the fashion show, [Am] But we never stooped so low
[C] Picked up the guitar and the pen, [D] Started creating again
[G] From overcooked to just fine, [Am] We’re crafting a sonic design
[C] Torn designs and torn up rhymes, [D] We’re healing hearts, one stitch at a time
(Repeat Chorus)
Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is “Glittery Joe,” an ex-fashion photographer who became disenchanted with the industry’s superficiality. He says, “Overcooked Fashion is my favorite band because their music resonates with me. Their journey mirrors my own, and their lyrics speak to the disillusionment many of us in the fashion industry have felt. Their songs are like a healing balm to the soul, reminding us that it’s okay to be different, to buck trends, and to redefine your own sense of style. Plus, their tunes are damn catchy!”
