They all met while attending the University of Texas and quickly bonded over a shared love for music and tales of ambition gone wrong. Their name, Greedy Successor, is a nod to the band’s theme, which is the struggle between ambition and morality. They have since brought this theme to life, drawing in fans with their storytelling lyrics and virtuosic musicianship.

Title:
“Golden Towers”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Am (Am/G) D (D/F#) G G/C
There’s a man in the golden towers,
Living high on his ill-begotten powers.
But he’s looking down, his smile turned to a frown,
He’s got everything, but he’s still feeling down.
(Chorus)
Em Em/D C C/B
Greedy Successor, what’s your game?
Who’s to blame for your endless shame?
You stand so high, but feel so low,
In your golden tower with nothing real to show.
(Verse 2)
Am (Am/G) D (D/F#) G G/C
He’s got a heart of stone, eyes so cold,
All his riches bought, nothing ever sold.
He’s living a lie, under the dreary sky,
In his golden tower, where dreams go to die.
(Chorus)
Em Em/D C C/B
Greedy Successor, can’t you see?
The more you take, the less you’ll be.
Look from your tower, see what’s true,
All you need is love, not more revenue.
(End)
Am (Am/G) D (D/F#) G G/C
So farewell to the man in the golden tower,
Who sold his soul for unworthy power.
He’s a Greedy Successor, lost in his greed,
A cautionary tale for all who heed.
Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is Becky Thompson. She’s been a part of the Greedy Successor family since their first gig in a tiny Austin bar. Becky says, “Their music speaks to me in a way nothing else does. The lyrics are thoughtful and the tunes are catchy. They’re not just another rock band; they have a message to deliver, and they do it with passion. I’ve followed them from their humble beginnings to their sold-out shows, and they’ve never forgotten their roots. Always engaging with their fans and remembering where they came from. That’s why Greedy Successor is my favorite band. They’re real, they’re raw, and they’re unforgettable.”
