Mean Fishing

Backstory:
Mean Fishing, as intriguing as they sound, was formed in 2007 by four childhood friends from a sleepy fishing village in Northern California. As children, they would spend hours sitting on the pier, fishing line in the water, sharing stories and dreams, and making up catchy tunes to pass the time. As they grew older, their love for music outpaced their passion for fishing, and they decided to make these pier-side jam sessions more than just a pastime, thus Mean Fishing was born.

The band’s journey kicked off in makeshift garage studios and local dive bars, but it didn’t take long for their unique sound to catch the ear of a San Francisco-based record label. By 2010, Mean Fishing had released their debut album which quickly gained traction, catapulting them from their quiet, beach town beginnings to the bustling music scene of the west coast.

“Harbor Heartbeats”

Full song lyrics:

(Verse)
Em D
Sitting on the dock under the afternoon sun,
G C
Casting our lines out, just having some fun.
Em D
Laughs ringing through the salty sea breeze,
G C
Life’s simple pleasures, just you and me.

(Chorus)
G D
Harbor Heartbeats, rhythm of the sea,
Em C
Waves crashing in time, setting us free.
G D
Harbor Heartbeats, echoing strong,
Em C
Our lives in the tide, where we belong.

(Verse)
Em D
Fishing pole in hand, dreams in our heads,
G C
Chasing the sunset, making memories instead.
Em D
The world beyond the horizon, a mystery to see,
G C
But for now, we’re content, just you and me.

(Chorus)
G D
Harbor Heartbeats, rhythm of the sea,
Em C
Waves crashing in time, setting us free.
G D
Harbor Heartbeats, echoing strong,
Em C
Our lives in the tide, where we belong.

The band’s favorite fan’s name:

Samantha Jenkins, a die-hard Mean Fishing fan from their hometown, says, “I’ve loved Mean Fishing since they were just a garage band. Their music reminds me of home, the sea, and simpler times. I’ve been to every one of their shows in California. The way they bring the spirit of our small town to the big city, it’s incredible. They’ve remained genuine and true to their roots, and that’s why they’ll always be my favorite band.”
