Horrible Scarecrow

Backstory:

Formed in the grassroots of Southern Texas back in 2010, Horrible Scarecrow found their way into the Rock scene with their uniquely blended sound of grunge, psychedelic and hard rock. The founding members, Billy ‘Crow’ Mason on vocals, Mark ‘Straws’ Granger on guitar, and Scotty ‘Patch’ Watts on drums, all childhood friends, were initially just trying out their luck. However, their shared love for rock and a mutual frustration with the state of contemporary music led them to create something different, something that would shake up the music scene. The band got its name from a scarecrow in a cornfield near their school, which they use to find terrifyingly fascinating, hence ‘Horrible Scarecrow’.

“Dreadful Harvest”

Full Song Lyrics:

Gm F C
(Verse 1)
Gm F
In the fields of sorrow, under the crimson sky

Stands the horrible scarecrow, with its hollow eyes
Gm F
Guarding secrets of the past, whispering ghostly sighs

Frostbitten memories, in the midst of lies

(Chorus)
Gm F C
Dreadful harvest, reaped with regret
Gm F C
Harbinger of sorrow, in shadows we met
Gm F C
Dreadful harvest, our hearts set afire
Gm F C
In the field of the scarecrow, we dance on the pyre

(Verse 2)
Gm F
With every seed of despair, we sow deeper the dread
C
Silhouettes in the moonlight, under secrets we bled
Gm F
The scarecrow stands in silence, as we dance to its tune
C
In the dreadful harvest, beneath the haunting moon

(Repeat Chorus)

Jenny says, “I discovered Horrible Scarecrow when I was going through a rough patch in my life. Their lyrics speak volumes about pain, loss, and the darker side of life, something that resonated deeply with me. I feel like they’re not just a band but a revelation, a beacon of raw emotion and honesty. Their song ‘Dreadful Harvest’ is my favorite. The haunting melody, the poignant lyrics, everything about it is just perfect. They’re not just my favorite band, they’re my sanctuary in this chaotic world.”
