Dry Quarter

Backstory:
Dry Quarter was formed in the small town of Lovington, New Mexico in 2006. The band is composed of childhood friends Ryan (vocals, guitars), Sam (drums), Billy (bass), and Nikki (keyboard, vocals). Together, they decided to express their shared passion for music and their experiences growing up in a town known for its aridity, hence the name “Dry Quarter”. It was through their shared struggles and triumphs that the band was born, bonding over their mutual love for music, frequenting local gigs, and practicing in Ryan’s garage.

The journey toward local fame began when they won a local talent show, which led to frequent invitations to perform in local bars and eventually recognition from a regional record label. Their music, characterized by profound lyrics, resonated deeply with the listeners, helping them amass a dedicated fan base over the years.

Title:
“Desert Mirage”

Full Song Lyrics:

[Verse 1]
(G, D, Em, C)
In this dust-filled town, under blazing sun (G, D)
We found our sound, where our story begun (Em, C)
Holing up in the garage, strumming ’til the day is done (G, D, Em, C)

[Chorus]
(G, D, Am, C)
We’re just a desert mirage, (G, D)
A melody in the haze (Am, C)
Chasing dreams on the horizon, (G, D)
In the heat of the blaze (Am, C)

[Verse 2]
(G, D, Em, C)
Through the dry desert nights, under the pale moon’s glow (G, D)
We play our hearts out, letting the rhythm flow (Em, C)
Guitars wailing, drums thundering, in sync with the radio (G, D, Em, C)

[Chorus]
(G, D, Am, C)
We’re just a desert mirage, (G, D)
A symphony in the daze (Am, C)
Rocking the barren landscape, (G, D)
With our indie serenade. (Am, C)

[Bridge]
(Em, C, G, D)
And even if the mirage fades, (Em, C)
We’ll still be playing in the shade (G, D)
For all our dreams are made, (Em, C)
In this dry quarter arcade. (G, D)

[Chorus]
(G, D, Am, C)
We’re just a desert mirage, (G, D)
A harmony in the blaze (Am, C)
Living life on the horizon, (G, D)
Forever in the haze. (Am, C)

Band’s Favorite Fan:
Their favorite fan is a woman named Lisa. Lisa, a Lovington native, has been following Dry Quarter since their earliest gigs. She’s attended every concert, often driving hundreds of miles to see them perform. She expresses her love for Dry Quarter by saying:

“Dry Quarter embodies the spirit of our town – resilient, passionate, and unyieldingly optimistic. Their music resonates with me on a deeply personal level because it’s born from a place I call home. They’ve turned the harsh realities of life in a dry, dusty town into a beautiful symphony. They’ve taught me that even in the harshest conditions, beautiful things can grow. That’s why Dry Quarter is my favorite band.”
