Title:
“Beneath the Cottonwoods”
Full Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Am D G C
Underneath the cottonwoods, where we used to play,
Am D G C
Between the whispers of the wind, I heard you say,
Am D G C
That love is just a dream, lost in yesterday,
Am D G C
But beneath the cottonwoods, I hoped you’d stay.
[Chorus]
G D Am C
Beneath the cottonwoods, we carved our names,
G D Am C
In the heart of the woods, we played our games,
G D Am C
In the shadows and the light, love was our flame,
G D Am C
Beneath the cottonwoods, nothing was the same.
[Verse 2]
Am D G C
Years have passed, and the cottonwoods have grown,
Am D G C
But the whispers of the past, have not been overthrown,
Am D G C
Your memory lingers on, like an old sweet song,
Am D G C
Beneath the cottonwoods, where we belong.
[Chorus]
G D Am C
Beneath the cottonwoods, we carved our names,
G D Am C
In the heart of the woods, we played our games,
G D Am C
In the shadows and the light, love was our flame,
G D Am C
Beneath the cottonwoods, nothing was the same.
[Bridge]
Em G D A
With every falling leaf, I felt your touch,
Em G D A
In the whispering woods, I miss you much,
Em G D A
Beneath the cottonwoods, where time can’t clutch,
Em G D A
Your love is my refuge, my eternal crutch.
