Backstory:
Afraid Heaven was formed in a small town in Connecticut by a group of childhood friends: lead singer Mike Turner, guitarist Danny Rizzo, bassist Rob Kendrick, and drummer Pete Weston. The band members found solace in their shared love of music during the turbulence of their teenage years. The band’s name, Afraid Heaven, comes from their shared belief that fear of reaching their full potential often holds them back, but they also see that fear as a kind of heaven, a comfort zone that provides solace even amidst the struggle. They began playing at local pubs and small concerts around their hometown, and their authentic sound soon caught the attention of a record label, catapulting them into a larger music scene.
In the whirlwind of fame and recognition, Afraid Heaven’s music remained grounded. Their lyrics often explored themes of fear, hope, self-doubt and redemption, becoming a beacon of light for many young people navigating through the complexities of life. Despite their success, the band maintained their close ties with their small town and often returned to perform at the local pubs where they first started.
