Altruistic Cushion

1. Backstory
Altruistic Cushion was formed in a humble garage in Portland, Oregon, in 2016. Its members, lead singer and guitarist Grayson ‘Monk’ Mullins, bassist Oliver ‘Ollie’ Jensen, and drummer Daniel ‘D’ Wright, were long-time friends who shared a deep love for music and a common belief in generosity and kindness. Hence, they decided to create music that would emotionally cushion their listeners and inspire them to be more altruistic.

The band quickly gained traction in the local music scene, known for their passionate performances and lyrics that touch on themes of empathy, selflessness, and human connection. After performing in various local gigs and music festivals, Altruistic Cushion got their major break in 2018 when they signed with indie record label, ‘Morning Bird Records.’

2. Music Genre
Altruistic Cushion’s music can be best described as Indie Rock with a tinge of folk and blues.

4. Full Song Lyrics with Chord Progression

(Verse 1: G – D – Em – C)
G D
In this world full of broken parts

We’re just patchwork hearts
G D
Picking pieces from others’ art
Em C
To mend our patchwork hearts

(Chorus: C – G – D – Em)
C G
Spread the love, share the pain
D Em
We’re all players in this game
C G
In the end, we’re all the same
D Em
Just patchwork hearts without a name

(Verse 2: G – D – Em – C)
G D
From your soul to mine, a thread
Em C
Weaves a quilt on our shared bed
G D
With your laughter, my worries shed
Em C
Nurturing our patchwork hearts, we tread

(Chorus: C – G – D – Em)
C G
Spread the love, share the pain
D Em
We’re all players in this game
C G
In the end, we’re all the same
D Em
Just patchwork hearts, in love’s flame
