Altruistic Enemy

Backstory:

Altruistic Enemy first came together in 2006 in the heart of Detroit, Michigan. Childhood friends Brian “Brisk” Kendrick, a passionate drummer, and Danny “Dagger” Williams, a soulful lead guitarist, both shared a deep love for music. Their mutual passion led to the creation of numerous melodies, beats, and songs in their make-shift garage studio. In 2008, they bid farewell to their garage days when they recruited the neighborhood’s diva, Rebecca “Bex” Harris, as their lead singer. Her killer vocals, coupled with the boys’ musical prowess, turned Altruistic Enemy into an unstoppable force.

Their journey to stardom wasn’t straightforward, though. The band faced countless obstacles, including Dagger’s near-fatal car accident in 2012, which threatened to end his music career. However, the band’s deep bond and shared passion for music helped them overcome all odds. They emerged stronger, with Dagger’s recovery leading to an album: “Phoenix Rising,” which became their breakthrough record, topping charts and winning hearts all over the world.

“Turn The Page”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[Am] Looking back at [G] yesterday, [F] life in disarray,
[Dm] Shadows of the [C] past, [E] feelings that outlast.
[Am] Heart’s been on the [G] mend, [F] trying to comprehend,
[Dm] The pain that [C] life can [E] send, oh where does it end?

(Chorus)
[Am] But we got to [C] turn the page,
[G] Let go of the [D] rage,
[Am] In this life’s [C] stage,
[G] It’s time to [D] engage,
[Am] And free ourselves from the [E] cage,
[F] We gotta [G] turn the [Am] page.

(Verse 2)
[Am] It’s a different [G] day, [F] time to find our way,
[Dm] Let’s not disarray, [C] hope leading the [E] sway.
[Am] Through all the chaos [G] and dismay, [F] we can see the ray,
[Dm] Always there to [C] convey, [E] love is here to stay.

(Chorus)
[Am] So we got to [C] turn the page,
[G] Embrace the [D] change,
[Am] Fear is but a [C] stage,
[G] Love is never [D] strange,
[Am] In our hearts, let it [E] wage,
[F] We gotta [G] turn the [Am] page.

Bands Favorite Fan:

Our favorite fan is a sweet lady named Laura “Lolly” Peterson. Lolly has been with us since our garage-band days. She was there when we played in seedy bars to an audience of five, and she was there in the front row when we sold out our first stadium concert. Lolly says, “Altruistic Enemy isn’t just a band for me; they’re family. Their music has been my lifeline, providing comfort during my darkest moments and joy during the brightest. Dagger’s recovery and the subsequent ‘Phoenix Rising’ album inspired me during my own health struggle. Their song ‘Turn The Page’ is my anthem. Every time I hear it, I’m reminded of the strength within me, and I know I can face anything.” We’re incredibly grateful for the love and loyalty of fans like Lolly.
