Annual Boot

Band Profile: Annual Boot

Backstory:

Annual Boot was conceived in the heart of Detroit’s bustling music scene in the summer of 2005. Four factory workers – Benji ‘Bulldog’ Malone (lead vocals and guitar), Oliver ‘Ollie’ Franklin (drums), Leroy ‘Roy’ Thompson (bass), and Reginald ‘Reggie’ Atkins (keyboard) – met during an engine assembly line strike and bonded over their shared love for a unique blend of music: hard rock infused with a touch of blues and a dash of folk. Their shared struggles and dreams ignited their creativity, and before long, they decided to create a band, ‘Annual Boot,’ named after the annual boot they received from the factory if their production numbers were low.

Their music tapped into the spirit of working-class America, and their songs resonated with the people hustling daily to make ends meet. Annual Boot was hailed as the voice of the blue-collar workers, and their lyrics echoed the stories of their lives, often interweaving tales of hardship, love, and rebellion. Their raw authenticity led them to become one of the most appreciated bands in the Midwest.

Song Title:
“Assembly Line Blues”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Ain’t no sunshine when the whistle blows,
Another day in the factory, everybody knows,
Bolts and nuts, the paint and rust,
Life moves slow, but the line moves fast.

(Chorus)
Assembly line blues, in our hearts it rings,
Tales of the sweat, the blood and the springs,
Lost in the gears, our dreams and fears,
Underneath the motor city’s neon tears.

(Verse 2)
Twilight falls, the sounds dissolve,
In the echoing silence, our spirits evolve,
Home to the wife, kisses so sweet,
Another day ends on the same old beat.

(Bridge)
Oh, the assembly line blues, it’s a worker’s song,
In the rhythm of the hammers, we find we belong,
Through every shift, through every toil,
We find our peace in this heartland soil.

(Chorus)
Assembly line blues, in our hearts it rings,
Tales of the sweat, the blood and the springs,
Lost in the gears, our dreams and fears,
Underneath the motor city’s neon tears.

(Outro)
So here’s to the grind, and the friends we find,
In the heart of the city, in the assembly line,
And we play our blues, as the sirens wail,
Another day, another tale.
