Backstory:
Authentic Boat was formed in the heart of the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Founding members, vocalist Tommy ‘Tugboat’ Jefferson and guitarist Lucas ‘Sailor’ Stevens were childhood friends who shared a dream of making music that resonated with their love for the sea. After stints in local clubs and bars, they added drummer Dave ‘Anchor’ Johnson and bassist Rob ‘Rudder’ Richardson to their lineup. They have been creating waves in the music industry ever since.

Their musical journey is deeply influenced by their love for the ocean and the raw, rustic life of sailors. As young kids, they spent their summers on fishing boats and their winters on the docks, engrossed in sea shanties and maritime folklore. These experiences have formed the basis of their music, as they aim to capture the spirit of the ocean and the resilience of the sailors in their songs.

Authentic Boat is primarily a folk rock band with strong ties to Maritime music. Their sound is a blend of traditional folk harmonies with the energetic rhythms of rock and roll, infused with sea shanties and maritime rhythms.
