Backstory:
Formed in the heart of Boston in 2012, Barren Friction started as an intimate project between two childhood best friends, Alex ‘Shredder’ McCallister (lead guitar, vocals) and Benny ‘Thump’ Johnson (drums). They initially played small gigs at local bars and house parties, experimenting with unique blends of their shared musical influences. It wasn’t until 2014 when they met Gen ‘Groove’ Hamilton (bassist) and Sam ‘Sultry’ Turner (keyboard, backing vocals) during an open mic night, that the duo was transformed into the dynamic quartet, Barren Friction. Their shared passion for creative music and the palpable chemistry between them was evident in their performances, and this propelled them to rapidly rise within the indie music scene.

Title:
“Falling Short of Infinity”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[C] Staring at the fading [G] skyline,
[Am] Sighing at the ticking [Em] clock,
[F] Wondering where the time’s [C] gone,
[G] Lost in thoughts that just won’t stop.
(Chorus)
[C] Are we just falling [G] short of infinity?
[Am] Are we merely grains [Em] in the cosmic sand?
[F] Striving for meaning, [C] fighting obscurity,
[G] Holding on to dreams with a trembling hand.
(Verse 2)
[C] Do we ride the waves of [G] destiny,
[Am] Or create our own [Em] path?
[F] In this vast universe, [C] is it absurdity,
[G] To think that love’s our aftermath?
(Chorus)
[C] Are we just falling [G] short of infinity?
[Am] Are we merely grains [Em] in the cosmic sand?
[F] Striving for meaning, [C] fighting obscurity,
[G] Holding on to dreams with a trembling hand.
(Outro)
[C] Falling short of [G] infinity,
[Am] Yet we dream, we strive, [Em] we stand,
[F] In our hearts, a quiet [C] certainty,
[G] Love’s more profound than the cosmic sand.
