1. Backstory

Bubbly Description, a band that effortlessly merges the whimsy of indie-pop with the soulful grit of blues, was born out of the vibrant music scene of Melbourne, Australia. The band was formed in the spring of 2015, when lead singer Kathryn “Kat” Davis, a local barista with a penchant for poetry, met drummer Luke Hollis at an open-mic night. They were later joined by bassist Matthew “Matty” Rodgers and lead guitarist Hannah “H” Lee. What started as casual jamming sessions in Luke’s garage, soon embarked on a journey that led them to become one of the most promising bands in the Australian music scene.

Their quirky band name, Bubbly Description, was inspired by a critique Kat received on one of her poems, where an anonymous commenter described her writing as a “bubbly description” of life. Rather than taking it as an insult, the band embraced it, finding it a fitting description of their lively, effervescent yet profound musical style.
