Great name for a band
Bumpy Video
The story
Bumpy Video was formed in the summer of 2021 when four college friends—Maya (vocals/guitar), Theo (bass), Santi (drums), and Rhea (keys/synth)—realized their shared obsession with glitch art, retro video games, and the anthems of 90s alternative rock. Bonding over jam sessions in Theo’s cluttered garage, they started writing songs that captured the nostalgia of analog days, spiked with modern synth textures and unpredictable rhythms. Their name, Bumpy Video, came from Maya’s childhood memory of watching her favorite VHS tape, forever stuck on “tracking” mode.
The band’s raw, honest sound quickly gained traction among local music lovers who connected with their themes of imperfection and resilience. Their gigs became known for vibrant visuals—pixelated projections, neon lights, and even an old-school CRT TV on stage. True to their name, Bumpy Video’s shows are immersive, unpredictable, and always a bit rough around the edges—in the best way.

Biggest fan
Our absolute favorite fan is Jade Lin, who’s never missed a single show—even the one during last year’s blackout in the park when the amps died and we finished our set totally acoustic. Jade says, “Bumpy Video’s songs are the soundtrack to my best memories. Their music makes me feel okay about not being perfect. I even painted my bedroom wall like a VHS static screen because of them. No matter what, I’ll always be in the front row, singing every word.”
