Backstory:
Burdensome Bat, a group of four high school friends hailing from the sleep-deprived streets of New York City, was formed in 2012. The band’s name is a nod to their late-night songwriting sessions in their school’s dusty old attic, where they’d often be startled by a seemingly burdened, lone bat. Together, the members found a common love for music and channeled their youthful exuberance, urban experiences, and raw emotions into creating a unique sound that resonates with their audience.
The band initially played at local events, soon gaining a steadily increasing fan base. Their breakthrough came when they performed at a popular music festival in 2014. The raw energy and lyrical depth they brought to their performance caught the attention of a record producer in the crowd, paving the way for their professional music career.

Title:
“Underneath the Moonlit Sky”
Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Em G
Beneath the moonlit sky,
D A
We found our dreams, you and I,
Em G
Lost in a city, awash in city lights,
D A
Drowned in noise, amidst the fights.
(Chorus)
C D
Underneath the moonlit sky,
G Em
We found our sound, we found our cry,
C D
In the heart of the night, we took flight,
G Em
Like our namesake bat, in the moonlight.
(Verse 2)
Em G
The echo of guitars, the beating of the drums,
D A
We found our voice, we found our hums,
Em G
In the shadows we dance, in the music we trust,
D A
Spreading our wings, in the night we adjust.
(Chorus)
C D
Underneath the moonlit sky,
G Em
We found our truth, we found our lie,
C D
In the heart of the night, we took sight,
G Em
Like our namesake bat, in the moonlight.
Band’s Favorite Fan:
Our favorite fan is a woman named Elaine. She has been attending our shows since we first started performing in local events in NYC. She says, “There’s a rawness to Burdensome Bat’s music that speaks to me. Their songs are a perfect blend of emotions, experiences, and powerful instrumentals. Their lyrics seem to tell my story, echoing my own experiences and feelings. There’s a universal quality to their music that makes them so relatable. Over the years, they’ve stayed genuine and true to their roots, which just makes me love them even more. Plus, they always put up an amazing show!”
