Backstory:
Cold Name emerged from the heart of Chicago’s vibrant music scene in the late 2000s. The founding members, Mike Turner (vocals, guitar), Nicky Grant (drums), and Brian Fields (bass), were all childhood friends who shared a love for the raw energy of punk and the melodic sophistication of indie rock. After finishing high school, the trio decided to form a band, using music as a way to express their feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Their honest lyrics, coupled with their energetic performances, quickly caught listeners’ attention and soon, they were playing in some of the city’s most iconic venues.
In 2012, they released their debut album, which was well-received both locally and nationally. The success of the album led to touring opportunities, allowing Cold Name to share their music with a wider audience. Even as they rose to prominence, the band members stayed true to their roots, ensuring that their music remained a genuine expression of their experiences and emotions.
