Backstory:
Defiant Mortgage is a quirky, unconventional band that emerged out of the suburban maze of Austin, Texas in late 2013. Its members, lead vocalist Fred “Fret” McKinnon, guitarist Daisy “Dynamo” Davis, bassist Calvin “Cool Cat” Moreno, and drummer Ethan “Echo” Harrison, all worked in various capacities in the real estate industry before hitting it off at a local open mic night. Realizing their shared passion for music and the monotony of their daily lives, they decided to combine their experiences, frustrations, and dreams into songs, forming the band Defiant Mortgage. They dreamt of breaking free from the shackles of their monotonous, corporate lives, hoping to channel their defiance into their music.

Their music is a reflection of their dual lives, exploring themes of daily grind, financial struggles, dreams deferred, and the yearning for freedom. Despite the seemingly somber themes, Defiant Mortgage infuses their music with a playful, satirical edge, making them a hit among those who enjoy their music with a side of social commentary.
