Backstory:
Delectable Landlord is a unique blend of five college friends who met while studying at the University of Oregon in 2013. Sharing a decrepit old house that they named ‘The Landlord’, they discovered a mutual love for music beyond their regular jamming sessions in their rented abode. Their landlord, a quirky old man, became their unexpected muse and a symbol of their shared experiences and struggles. Inspired by the dynamic relationship they had with him, they named their band ‘Delectable Landlord’. They started off playing at local bars, quickly gaining popularity and landing a record deal in 2016. Despite their growing success, they stay true to their roots, often referencing their humble beginnings in their songs and performances.

Title:
“Rent’s Due, Blues”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1) [C] Sitting on the porch, [G] staring at the street,
[D] Whiskey in my hand, [Em] life feels incomplete.
[C] The old man’s at the door, [G] knocking on the wood,
[D] Rent’s due again, [Em] wish I understood.
(Chorus) [F] Why life’s so hard, [Am] why money’s so tight,
[C] Why the landlord’s grin, [G] gives us such a fright.
[F] But we’ll play our blues, [Am] strum away the night,
[C] ‘Cause in this Delectable Landlord, [G] we’ll find our light.
(Verse 2) [C] Working day and night, [G] just to make the rent,
[D] Got no time to sleep, [Em] not a single cent.
[C] But when we pick up our guitars, [G] and start to play our tune,
[D] The landlord taps his foot, [Em] under the moon.
(Bridge) [Em] And when the night’s too cold, [Am] and the rent’s past due,
[F] We’ll play our songs, [C] for me and you.
[G] In this old house, [Em] under the landlord’s view,
[Am] We’ll find our home, [F] in the rent’s due blues.
