The story
Different Stone formed in the summer of 2018 in Asheville, North Carolina, when college friends Maya, Leo, and Jonah decided to blend their diverse musical tastes into something unique. Maya, a classically trained pianist with a passion for folk storytelling, met Leo, a self-taught guitarist influenced by blues and indie rock, at a local open mic night. Jonah, a drummer rooted in jazz rhythms, joined soon after, completing the trio. Their chemistry was immediate, and they quickly began writing songs that reflected their shared experiences of growing up in a small town while dreaming big.
Over the years, Different Stone has developed a signature sound that merges heartfelt lyrics with dynamic instrumentation, exploring themes of identity, change, and resilience. Their debut album, "Echoes in Quartz," released in 2021, received critical acclaim for its raw emotion and innovative blend of genres.
