Different Talk

Backstory: Different Talk is a four-piece band from the sleepily serene town of Paducah, Kentucky. Comprised of childhood friends, Liam Braxton (lead vocals/guitar), Daisy Carson (bass/vocals), Jake Williams (drums), and Ethan Chambers (lead guitar), the band was born in the sultry summer of 2009. They quickly discovered a shared affinity for creating explosive, energetic music that mirrored their personal experiences of navigating life, love, and the turbulent journey of young adulthood. Their dynamic sound was honed in local gigs, where they built a strong following before hitting the national touring circuit.

Different Talk’s ascent was far from effortless. Weekends spent playing for small crowds gradually gave way to packed out venues and festival slots. A turning point came in 2013 when their EP ‘Nature of the Beast’ started getting airplay on college radio stations. From that moment, Different Talk become synonymous with raw, unfiltered emotion, and their earnest, often autobiographical songwriting resonated with fans worldwide.

Title: “Waves of Yesterday”

Full Song Lyrics:

Verse 1: (G, D, Em, C)
In the old town, where we ran around, (G, D)
Chasing sunsets, and feeling so profound. (Em, C)
Your laugh danced in the wind, (G, D)
And in your eyes, I found a friend. (Em, C)

Chorus: (G, D, Em, C)
Oh, how we rode the waves of yesterday, (G, D)
In dreams that felt so real, yet so far away. (Em, C)
With the sand beneath our feet, and hearts astray, (G, D)
We swam in the deep, chasing the day. (Em, C)

Verse 2: (G, D, Em, C)
With your hand in mine, and stars align, (G, D)
We made a promise, ‘neath the moonshine. (Em, C)
But seasons change, and so did we, (G, D)
Yet, in my heart, you’ll always be.

(Em, C)

In Sammy’s words: “Different Talk isn’t just a band for me, it’s an emotion. Their music has been my solace through the toughest times. They manage to capture the essence of my own feelings in their lyrics, almost as if they’re hollering my truths. From the first beat to the last echo, their songs are a roller coaster ride that I never want to end. Their music is raw, real, and relentlessly honest – it’s like they’re narrating my life’s story.
